Grown Locally (Goods Raised Only With Nature Locally) is a cooperative of small local farms dedicated to providing fresh, high quality foods to local food service institutions. Some producers of Grown Locally are:
Koehn Berries & Produce
Rosalie and Randy Koehn offer strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, sweet corn, asparagus, green beans and peas during the growing season. In early spring they offer European cucumbers and tomatoes grown in the greenhouse.
G it's Fresh
Always on the lookout for growers who share our passion for produce, Annie's Gardens and Greens was introduced to Glen Elsbernd.
Glen is able to produce the finest organic peas, potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, lettuce, peppers, eggplants and cabbage for the road side stand and CSA.
Fairfield Farms
Fairfield Farms is a family owned, sustainable farm, raising livestock and growing field crops along with produce and small grains. All of their livestock is naturally raised and humanely treated with great affection.
Randol Honey Farm
Pat and Tom Randol of Winterset, IA have been making honey for 8 years. Pat has entered her creamed honeys at the State Fair and they have came away with awards. Her best sellers are blueberry, blackberry, reaspberry, orange, and jalapeno. The jalapeno makes a wonderful glaze for meat or mix with equal parts of honey and cream cheese for an awesome cracker dip.
Dough & Joe Bakery
Steve and Molly Pedretti run a full-service bakery and coffee house in Cresco, IA. Their shop on Elm Street offers doughnuts, cookies pastries, muffins, breads, buns, and cakes. They also have specialty coffees, espresso, steamers, chai and hot cider. You can enjoy 15 varieties of their delicious breads in Annie's Staples I & II shares or visit our Calmar location each week and see what is available.
Mitzva Farm Cheese
Mitzva Farm Cheese is owned by Yosef and Bluma Abrams and operated out of Waukon, IA. Yosef and Bluma have been producing Kosher cheese since 2000. For them, cheese begins with quality milk. Their dedicated "Cholov Yisroel" herd of tein cows, is well cared for, healthy, and contented. Check out Annie's cheese share!
J & J Produce
J & J Produce, L.L.C. was established in January of 2010. They have 10,000 sq. ft. of growing area. They are family run with two part time employees. They have produce available April- November.
Annie's Roadside Stand
Annie's has Iowa homegrown fresh vegetables available at our Road Side Stand when in season. Over the past few years we have attempted to have fruits grown in Iowa. However, we have not been too successful at this. As of 2011, we will be getting in different fruits from around the United States.
Items that will be available: Lettuce mixes, asparagus, rhubarb, berries, peaches, apples, radishes, green onions, kohlrabi, spinach, beet greens, carrots, cabbage, celery, tomatoes, beets, peas, beans, carrots, okra, cauliflower, broccoli, potatoes, sweet corn, fennel, and a wide variety of fresh cut herbs just to name a few. We also have honey, organic eggs, and dairy products.
S & C Organics
S & C Organics understands the importance of providing quality foods enhanced only with greatness provided by nature. Generations to come will enjoy the eggs from healthy hens. S & C Organics uses no antibiotics because they believe in building up the birds immune system naturally through exercise and less cramped spaces. In addition to delicious and bountiful eggs, a variety of the finest cut organic meat is also available.
Hansen's Farm Fresh Dairy
When all four sons were interested in returning to work on their home farm, They needed a way to add value to their product so several families could be supported. After extensive research, the Hansen's decided to process their own milk. They provide products such as; whole milk, 1 percent milk, skim milk, butter, heavy cream, cheese curds, ice cream, ice cream pies, ice cream cakes, and eggnog (seasonal).
